Introduction to Off Hand Glass Blowing with Alex Greenwood
October 23 and 24, 2010
We are excited to offer this "Introduction to Off Hand Glass Blowing" class in cooperation with Studio C Glassworks. This class focuses on the age old techniques of blowing glass using a furnace and working in teams to create functional as well as decorative glass pieces. This is a two day class that begins with shop safety, as well as an introduction to the tools and equipment you will be using. Once familiar with your surroundings we will learn how to gather the glass out of the furnace and add color to it in order to make your first paperweight. After you've mastered the paperweight, we'll get into making hollow vessels such as cups and simple vases. If you've ever wondered what it's like to play with a molten material that's flowing at 2300 degrees, here's your chance.
